The PhilosophyGyms project brings together institutions from across Europe to collaborate on best practices, curriculum development, and training methodologies. This partnership creates a dynamic network of expertise, fostering innovation and collaboration across the EU and beyond.
The members of the consortium of this project are:
1. Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) GmbH - University of Applied Sciences (Germany) – Coordinator
The FHM is a private, non-profit and state-approved University of Applied Sciences. The FHM was founded in 2000 by medium-sized enterprises and educational institutions. Since then, it has developed into one of the most successful private universities in Germany with a strong focus on the needs of SMEs. The FHM’ concept focuses on practical career orientation, individual tutoring, and small group sizes. At present, there are approx. 5814 students in BA, MA and MBA programs, 50 in doctoral programs, and 630 in scientific further education.
The programs on offer include 39 BA study programs, 18 MA programs, doctoral programs in cooperation with the British university of Worcester, and 9 programs in the field of scientific further education. Study programs cover 3 main areas: Economics; Media & Communication; HR, Health and Social Work. The FHM employs 101 professors and cooperates with about 396 experts from the business sector as guest lecturers.
2. Lunds Universitet (Sweden) – Partner
Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS) is a world class sustainability centre for research, teaching and impact where we work to understand, explain, and catalyse social change and transformations in relation to material limits in the biosphere.
LUCSUS was established as an independent centre at Lund University in 2005, and belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences since 2019. LUCSUS has a unique way of addressing complex sustainability issues from a critical and an integrated natural and social science perspective, and with a solutions-based approach. We believe that sustainability is a complex field – and best understood and explained through interdisciplinary research in close collaboration with society.
LUCSUS consists of a team of about 40 international researchers and teachers from a range of countries and academic backgrounds. Our unique international, interdisciplinary setting offers both researchers, master students and PhD candidates a vibrant learning and research environment which provides a forum for professional development in sustainability.
3. PAIZ Konsulting Sp. z o.o. (Poland) – Partner
PAIZ Konsulting Sp. z o.o. has been providing training services for leaders, managers and staff members of small, medium and large organisations since 1997 focusing on solutions enhancing knowledge increase and effective change implementation in skills, behaviours and attitudes on individual level as well as organisational. PAIZ has served almost 10 000 adult learners from Poland and other European countries who participated in its educational events. (www.paiz.com.pl). For several years PAIZ, through its brand Skolamed, has been also offering conferences and seminars for the medical sector providing a full set of hospitality services (www.skolamed.pl)
4. Virtual Campus LDA (Portugal) – Partner
Virtual Campus is a development, training and consulting SME in the areas of Technology Enhanced Learning, Serious Games and Information Systems. Its vision is to actively promote the development of the Knowledge Society by supporting public and private entities in designing and developing strategies and projects that lead to increased societal benefits, always through the use of digital environments for Education and Training. Located in Porto, North of Portugal, Virtual Campus has strong partnerships with various Universities and Companies in the region and has successfully partnered with Local and Regional Authorities, enterprise associations and specialized companies. In fact, Virtual Campus is a spin-off from the research and work developed at the R&D group GILT, from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. Virtual Campus staff forms a multidisciplinary team with academic backgrounds in different areas, allying knowledge and skills from International Relations, Programming, and Design.
5. Yambol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Bulgaria) – Partner
Yambol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (YCCI) is the most experienced and well-known regional chamber in the south- east region of Bulgaria, which regular work includes support, promotion, representation and internationalization of the business of its regular members – 960 industrialists, manufacturers, retailers, academic bodies, research institutions. The organization provides integrated solutions by capitalizing knowledge and experience from EU and national funded projects in the field of the entrepreneurial field, focusing on supporting firms with the potential to innovate and grow internationally, regardless of their age or sector, but also providing tailored services to start-ups and scale-ups. The organization activities involve training and support provisions for SMEs in its own licensed centre for professional training in 37 up-to-date and innovative professions, business consultants and advisers, entrepreneurs and prospect entrepreneurs, employer training schemes.
